I've just come across this article - and was utterly schocked. I've just three things to say to this Samantha :
1) not all French hubbies are macho pigs who date only slim women and are always ready for a threesome (in other words, they're not all like like your pascal). Shall I introduce you to my Dad who's had a plump wife for 30 years and never looked at other women ?
2) not all French women are happy smiley homemakers who cook perfect meals. In my home, we never complained about eating pasta every other day. Oh ! And women do have a drink at the apero - at least, in my home.
3) Sam - be a woman and divorce that macho pig you call your husband instead of spilling your frustration in a national newspaper.

A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.
B) Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

My meditation instructor - we always greet each other that way.
7. What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?

A tangerine from the fruit plate I mentionned in question 1.
9. What was the last text message you received?
One from my Mum who asked when she can call me.

Nothing to no one in particular - people are either sleeping or partying and I'm supposed to be sleeping now.
19. Say something about the person who tagged you
I don't really know that guy but I hope we'll have the opportunity to meet. I'd love to hear from his travels round a cup of Japanese tea and try his culinary experiments :)

Enough procrastinating - let's finish and print that assignment.

Eh oui !
Tant pis

Enjoy !

On my second year of Talkin' like a pirate ! Sorry me hearties, but I coudn't resist the call of the sea ! Godspeed !
"Avast me mates ! Good news ahead ! Seems like I'm gonna get me a placement smartly - aye aye ! I had an appointment today at t' Language School and t' HR beauty told me she needed some hands t' work on t' school's website - like updatin' pages, addin' content and pics, uploadin' videos n' other stuff... We had a wee talk then t' HR beauty told me t' contact her next friday and she'll give me a list o' tasks t' do for a placement. In other words, she'd like me to go aboard the ship. Yo-ho-ho ! Someone's gonna splice the mainbrace tonight :D
There's a wee glitch though : t' HR beauty wants t' work to be done real handsomely - she means, before december and the captain told us t' work experiences have t' start after New Year's Day. I have sent a message t' the captain t' let him know and ask him if it's possible for t' placement be done more smartly as scheduled. Arrrr! it'd be real a shame t' let that handsome ship go ! Let's keep them fingers crossed..
In t' meantime, I go see what's crawled out of the bung hole, swab the bedroom then aft t' t' serious stuff - swag some "aesthically-driven pieces of advertising" off the net and then have an early night. No, no grog after all - I need some sleep...

I'm glad to have found this article, although it's always been obvious to me - even the part about heavy-metal fans being non-violent.
And what can you say about someone like me who listens to all types of music, including death metal and J-pop ? XD

OK, just a wee post to inform you that I have currently issues with my Internet connection at home - I am typing this post from the office.
Actually, I am able to log in to the network but I get an error message (something like "Server not found") whenever I start the browser and this happens whether I use Firefox or Internet Explorer. After restarting the laptop several times and fiddling with the modem and the router, I still get the same result.
This is all the more worrying becayse I get the same issue with my other laptop (the one I'm borrowing from college) and also when I plug the Ethernet cable to either laptop.
Need I mention it is really annoying ? Plus, I have no friggin' clue of what might have caused that.
I'll try again this week-end and check with my roomies to see if they are experiencing that too. Otherwise, I'll have to call technical support - and post here from college.

I know, I write a lot about emo in my LJ, even though I don't listen that much of that music (and no, I don't count MCR as emo) but what preoccupies me about this article, is the fact that a whole musical and cultural trend has been made illegal by a European government !
The fact that people blame music as a cause of ill-being or depression or suicide is something that really grinds my gears but this law is really the summit of human stupidity ! Frankly, I don't see how tattoos and piercings have to do with alcoholism and pornography ! And since when does Halloween inspire agression ? (We're not talking about the horror movie, of course !)
Aye aye ! Welcome back to the fifties, to the jolly good times where rock'n'roll was deemed as the devil's work... What's it going to be next ? *exasperated sigh*
Russia may ban Halloween, emo and punk

Switching to MCR-fan mode again to express myself about the new Daily Mail attack on My Chemical Romance. *exasperated sigh* Those guys will never learn !!
For those who don't know - the (ultra-conservative) British tabloid The Daily Mail has blamed My Chemical Romance and emo bands for the suicide of a 13-year old girl. Hannah Bond (that's her name) was obsessed with emo, which the paper calls a "suicide cult". You can read the whole story here : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5 64611/Girl-13-hangs-obsessed-Emo-suicide-c ult-rock-band.html
It's not the first time the Daily Mail attacks this band and I'm enraged to see my favourite band pointed as scapegoat for teenage violence or suicide once again. They were already blamed for inspiring the VA Tech killer to run amok last year and I wrote an entry about it, which you can read here, shortly after that.

I'm sorry I don't post much either - I have hardly the time as most lecturers want assignments completed for next week. With that, plus the application for financial support for next week, appointments at the dentist's and the GP's, an interview with a manager for a rescheduling of my working hours (which I didn't get >:( Grrrrr...), plus all the hassle for booking another flight before prices increase, this week is madness !! Someone get me out of here...
Enough with the small talk. I have a question for an assignment in Computing Fundamentals, which I'm stuck on. The lecturer wants us to critically evaluate the two major Operating Systems - Windows and Mac OS.
About Windows, I can say that its biggest advantage is its compatibility with most applications and file formats on the market - thanks to Billy, who actually hardly gives us a choice when getting a PC. The mouse right click is a good idea too - most Apple Macs I use don't have it and it's a real pain in the neck.
That Windows tend to crash more than Mac, it's not a relevant point - it's got much more to do with the machine itself. If you clean, scan and defrag your drive regularly, then your machine won't crash.
About safety, I have read mixed critics about it. Windows XP is safe for sure. I heard Vista was too but I never used Vista, so I can't check. I use a Mac only a couple of times a week and said Mac is linked to the college's network.
About Mac, everyone says it's ideal if you're into multimedia - film editing, making music, graphic design, etc... I have used only Logic Express on Mac. I use Photoshop on Windows but I never tried it on a Mac, so I can't compare.
The lecturer told me that it's my opinion that matters most. I say Windows XP is good, but only because it's the only OS I use on a regular basis - both my laptops run it.
So, what good or bad things about Windows and Mac OS am I possibly missing, or overlooking ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
